Lai, it’s time for another round of whodunnit-this-time.

From breakups to neurotic behaviours, the Circuit Breaker sure has shown another side to ourselves, our ability for self-care and the longevity of relationships.

Also, might we add an indication of our moral character.

But before we move on to the updates of an ongoing drama we have in store for you, let us refresh your memories of the little debacle.

Couple Broke Up After Getting Charged With Breaking Circuit Breaker Rules

On May 9, a couple hosted a gathering in their Compassvale Crescent flat which included a total of 16 guests. The party-goers included residents from Tampines, Punggol, Hougang and Bukit Panjang.

Under normal circumstances, this would have been fine but as it was during the Circuit Breaker (CB) when social gatherings were temporarily prohibited, it was a complete no-no.

The circuit breaker period lasted from Apr 7 to Jun 1.

During this period, members of the public were not allowed to leave their place of residence unless they had a valid reason.

They were also prohibited from meeting people from other households for any social purpose.

Unfortunately, these individuals flouted the rules.

According to reports, the party-goers came into close contact with each other while eating, drinking alcohol, playing games and watching Netflix.

Naturally, this drew concern from their neighbours, one of whom contacted the police citing she was “very sure” they did not live there and that it was happening “almost every night.”

Fast forward a few months, the hostess, Cassie Ong Shi Hong, 32, was fined S$4,000 for one charge of allowing others not from her household into her Compassvale Crescent flat for a social gathering.

The co-accused Leong Chee Mun, 37, was fined $5,000.

Unfortunately, the pressure rose and caused the (reportedly unhappily-engaged) couple of two years to part ways since.

To find out what went down between the couple, head over to our other article for just how “toxic’ their relationship was.

If you’re wondering what happened to the others; ten guests, aged 21 to 32, were also fined between $2,500 to $3,000 each.

This left us with five more pending cases from the 18-person gathering.

New Updates

On Sep 30, two offenders Moey Kai Yi, 19, and Cavin Liow Jun Rong, 20, were each fined $2,000.

They had chosen to take the fine instead of being put on probation.
