Mounting a curb, then crashing into a lamp post is bad enough.

But three men even ran away from the scene. Honestly, why did they bother when there are cameras everywhere nowadays?

Here’s what happened.

Car Skidded and Landed On Sidewalk

The accident occurred around 8:20am on 16 March, in Hougang Avenue 4 toward Hougang Avenue 9.

The black car went up a curb, crashed into a lamppost, slid across a patch of grass, and ended up on a sidewalk in front of Block 670.

The police arrived shortly after the incident and cordoned off the area. The car, which appeared to be damaged with its boot compartment wide open, was towed away around 12pm.

The police stated that the car is believed to have skidded. There were no reported injuries, and investigations are currently ongoing.

Residents Saw 3 Men Fleeing Scene

According to Shin Min Daily News, residents saw three men climbing out of the car after the crash. They ran up the grass slope toward the housing blocks, and fled the scene.

The residents reportedly said that the path is often used by elderly residents, and it was lucky that nobody was there when the accident occurred. Accidents apparently also happen there quite often, as motorists tend to speed around the bend.

Netizens’ Reactions

Many Facebook comments were amused, commenting jokes like “you can’t park there mate” or saying that that area was “the devil’s bend” due to its propensity for accidents.

Many people also speculated that the driver was speeding, or perhaps filming for the next Fast and Furious movie. Or maybe the driver was sleeping?

Regardless, we hope that this serves as a reminder to everyone to drive carefully, unless you want to get real close with a lamppost.

And also, a reminder that cameras are everywhere.
