If there’s anything we’ve all learned from living in Singapore, it’s that violence doesn’t let you get your way around things.

Unfortunately, some people never learn.

Mercedes-Benz Driver Knocked Down Church Gate, Nearly Knocked PMD Rider Down Too

On 2 February, a 30-year-old man driving a Mercedes-Benz was arrested by the police after he knocked down the gate of Victory Family Centre’s technical support centre, a church in Toa Payoh.

He had also attempted to knock down a food delivery rider, who was riding a Personal Mobility Device (PMD).

Here’s what happened.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the food delivery rider, Mr Harun, said that he was rushing to pick up an order from a nearby restaurant when he first encountered the red Mercedes car at the zebra crossing.

The car was headed west along Toa Payoh East, and the zebra crossing was approximately 25m away from the gates of Victory Family Centre.

Mr Harun recounted that the driver had gotten angry as he wanted to drive past before Mr Harun crossed the road. “I should have priority at the zebra crossing, but the other party tried to drive in front of me. I was very angry so I questioned the driver,” he said.

After Mr Harun parked his PMD and got into a debate with the driver, the driver unexpectedly drove his car forward and attempted to knock Mr Harun down.

Out of fear, Mr Harun dodged the Mercedes-Benz before the car drove right into the gates of Victory Family Centre’s technical support centre.

Afterwards, Mr Harun also claimed that the driver suddenly reversed his car before knocking his PMD down.

Onlookers called the police upon witnessing the act.

Mr Harun concluded by saying that he did not think that the driver would engage in such rash actions and that he only wanted to have a civil debate with him.

He also added that although the driver delayed his work, he will not be pursuing any further action as the damage done was minor. He will also be leaving the case in the hands of the police.
