Teen Charged With Rape of Younger Sister

Just yesterday (2 March), a 19-year-old teenager was charged for raping his younger sister.

The perpetrator, who is a Singaporean, is currently at the Institute of Technical Education, is facing two charges of rape, two charges of sexual assault by penetration, one charge of attempted rape and two other charges related to voluntarily causing hurt to his younger sister.

His sister was between eight and 11 years old when the offences occurred. Additionally, due to a gag order to protect her identity, the perpetrator cannot be named.

The parents were present at the court hearing yesterday.

Additionally, the victim is currently being taken care of by the Ministry of Social and Family Development.

Timeline of Events

According to court documents, he first attempted to rape his sister in 2017. His sister was eight years old at the time.

In the same year, he sexually assaulted her by penetration as well.

Afterwards, in the early months of 2018, he apparently hit his sister with a stick until she started bleeding from the head.

Later on, in October 2018, he allegedly used his hand to hit her face. The force he exerted caused her to sustain a bruise under her eye.

It was in January 2020 when he raped his sister, who was 11 years old then, twice on two occasions.

The teenager was granted bail of $50,000, and he is expected to return to court later this month on 23 March.

Each count of rape or sexual assault by penetration can lead to imprisonment of anywhere between eight to 20 years, as well as at least 12 stokes of the cane.

Every count of attempted rape can lead to a jail term of eight to ten years, along with 12 strokes of the cane as well.

On the other hand, one count of voluntarily causing hurt can result in imprisonment of up to two years and a fine of up to $5,000.
