In a rare moment where fiction meets reality – Barbie Hsu revealed that she had rushed to re-marry her old flame, DJ Koo – otherwise known as Koo Jun-Yup – so that he could fly from South Korea to see her in Taiwan.

This is because Taiwan’s current COVID1-9 restrictions called for a temporary ban on all foreign nationals from entering unless the individual is a spouse or children of a Taiwan national where they will be allowed to apply for a special entry permit.

Talk about a K-drama level of dedication and romance.

The Ups and Downs of Hsu’s Romantic Life

The well-known 45-year-old Taiwanese actress and television host had announced her divorce from now ex-husband, Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, in November 2021. The duo was married for ten years before their split and have two children together.

However, Hsu has since re-married to her old flame, DJ Koo, three months after her divorce from Wang. The pair reconnected when Koo decided to ring her up by digging up her old phone number after hearing about her divorce.

The long lost love birds had not seen each other in more than 20 years and allegedly dated secretly for a year before being forced to end things in 1999. This was because back then, Koo was part of the then-popular 90s South Korean dance music duo, Clon and dating for him was not approved by his management then.

What Happened Ever Since Hsu’s and Koo’s Reunion

The pair had made their announcement of their marriage on Instagram in both Korean and Chinese on Koo’s Instagram account.

“We are married,” wrote Koo in the shared announcement.

“Upon hearing the news of her divorce, I found that phone number of hers from 20 years ago and re-connected with her … because I married really late, I do hope to get everyone’s support and blessings. Thank you all,” said Koo in his Instagram post.

Hsu also followed to repost Koo’s statement on her social media accounts and wrote: “Life is uncertain. I cherish the happiness I have in the present. I thank everything that has led me step by step to where I am now.”

The couple have since filed their marriage paperwork separately in South Korea and Taiwan without meeting in person. Koo is also currently serving a 10-day quarantine in accordance to the COVID-19 measures in place in Taiwan.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the marriage was so sudden that even Hsu’s mother had not known that it was going to happen and allegedly she is angry to the point where she refuses to talk to Hsu or meet her new son-in-law.

Hsu’s younger sister, Dee Hsu, have since stepped in to mediate.

Still, given that this reunion had a K-Drama level of romance, we wish the duo a K-Drama level of happy ending as well!
