Even though it’s annoying to set up a two-step authentication login for almost all our online accounts, sometimes you can’t help but feel that regret when you realise you have been hacked by those random users that flood your account with tacky posts claiming you are selling “authentic” Ray-Bans for just SGD$40.

But the fear becomes more than just tacky Ray-Ban posts ruining your account aesthetic, especially for celebrities when more is at stake from their private information to content that is only meant for personal use.

Singapore actress, Eleanor Lee, who’s Quan Yifeng’s daughter, is sadly one of the victims of relentless hacking as she had been living in fear after her TikTok account was first hacked in December 2021.

Multiple Accounts Targeted by Hackers

Even after Lee had taken the extra measures to deter hackers from getting into her account again, her TikTok account was hacked for a third time.

Her other social media accounts were not spared either when hackers tried to get to her Instagram account as well which currently has around 454,000 followers.

The 22-year-old Singaporean who is now based in China talks about how every morning she wakes up scared that her other social media accounts have been hacked.

Lee has mentioned that she will stop using TikTok as “the hackers won’t stop” and will continue posting social updates via her other social media accounts instead.

Her TikTok account has since been de-activated ever since the multiple hacking incidents.

However, the 22-year-old celebrity remains active on Instagram, Twitter, and the Chinese-counterpart of TikTok, Douyin and Xiaohongshu, the Chinese-equivalent of Instagram in China.

Celebrities Who Have Gotten Their Accounts Hacked

This is definitely not the first instance in which celebrity accounts have fallen prey to hackers.

In 2020, an infamous group of teenage hackers had succeeded in hacking over 100 celebrity Twitter accounts which includes the accounts belonging to Barack Obama, Elon Musk, Kanye West and more.

The group had succeeded in using the hack to conduct a Bitcoin scam which resulted in them getting over $110,000 in Bitcoin in a span of a few minutes.

The hack was done after the teenagers managed to trick Twitter employees to hand over the access to the social media platform’s administrative tools which in turn gave them control over the various celebrity accounts.
