It looks like one of the world’s best airlines just got even better.

 Free Wifi For All

Starting from 1 July, all Singapore Airlines (SIA) passengers in all cabin classes, including Premium Economy Class and Economy Class, will have access to the free limitless WiFi network.

This enhanced Wi-Fi service extends to almost the entire SIA route network and almost all of the aircraft in fleet1.

As announced by Mr Yeoh Phee Teik, the Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at SIA, this change comes as “in today’s increasingly hyper-connected world, high-speed inflight Wi-Fi connectivity is one of the most important requirements,” and granting its passenger access to free unlimited Wi-Fi is “yet another milestone in SIA’s effort to offer an exceptional end-to-end travel experience”.

With this enhanced offering, passengers in all cabin classes will be able to stay in touch with loved ones, conduct online business, or keep up with their social media feeds high above the clouds.

Yes, no more excuses for being on the plane to run away from work anymore.

To enjoy this service, passengers must provide their KrisFlyer membership information at the time of booking using the Manage Booking online option or at check-in in order to use the service.

For non-KrisFlyer members, they can register for their free membership online or while using a personal mobile device on the SIA digital content portal.

 Past Wi-Fi Service

Prior to this, non-Krisflyer members in Economy class may purchase a Wi-Fi package, starting from US$3.99/Hr (S$5.25) and 3 hours for US$8.99 (S$11.80).

If they opt for the entire flight, it’ll cost US$15.99 (S$21.00).

In the same class, KrisFlyer members get two hours of complimentary Wi-Fi, and Premium Economy members receive an additional hour.

If you didn’t know, SIA recently made a record annual profit of around S$2.16 billion for FY2022/23.

Yes, billion.

This marked SIA’s strong rebound from three straight years of losses, unsurprisingly due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In celebration of their success, employees will be receiving up to eight months’ bonuses; this eight-month figure comes from adding together the 6.65 months profit-sharing bonus on top of a 1.5-month of ex-gratia bonus.

Even though we may not be able to relate to the good fortune of the SIA’s employees, at least we can both share the same cheer with today’s news.
