If there’s one unforeseen outcome from the COVID-19 outbreak, it’s the fact that people all over the world seem to be turning against each other.

For instance, there have been full-on physical fights over toilet paper and surgical masks.

Hand sanitizers? Forget about seeing those in stores for a long while as people selfishly hoard a lifetime supply of it for themselves.

But amidst the turmoil, it’s heartening to know that there is still goodness in this world:

China Now Sends Help, Including Staff & Supplies, to Italy to Fight COVID-19

On 13 March, a chartered plane stocked full of 30 tonnes of medical supplies was delivered to Rome all the way from Beijing.

Along with the medical supplies, the plane also brought along a team of nine Chinese medical experts to provide support in Italy’s battle against the coronavirus outbreak.

“In this moment of great stress, of great difficulty, we are relieved to have this arrival of supplies. It is true that it will help only temporarily, but it is still important,” head of the Italian Red Cross, Francesco Rocca said.

“This is for sure a really important donation for our country.”

Italy Is The Worst-Hit Country Outside of China

Italy is now the worst-hit country outside of China with over 1,000 deaths and over 15,000 confirmed cases, all within the span of a month since the virus hit it.

It comes as no surprise then that Italy’s hospitals are struggling, with a shortage of medical supplies.

According to Reuters, China’s help was not the norm as other countries in the European Union have been unwilling to help Rome by sharing their medical supplies as they are saving it for themselves.

At least one Facebook user has taken to social media to thank China for its generosity, which included the donation of as many as 1,000 ventilators, 100,000 masks, 20,000 sets of protective equipment and 50,000 test kits.

Lest you can’t see it, here is what she says:

I just saw this and my eyes filled with tears. It is so refreshing and unexpected to be woken up with good news, in a world where most of what you read is bad.

A #ChinaEasternAirline Airbus A350 arriving from #Shanghai landed in #Rome this morning carrying a team of 9 doctors experts in #Covid19 and much needed supplies including:

1,000 #ventilators
100,000 #masks
20,000 #protectivegear
50,000 #testkits

These wonderful people who survived and fended the horrible epidemic in their country, flew thousands of miles to jump straight into another storm. Thank you wholeheartedly China! I pray for the safety of your doctors and I call upon my fellow Italians to never forget this beautiful gesture of humanity and solidarity.

The Situation In China

On Friday, mainland China had 11 new confirmed coronavirus cases, according to the country’s National Health Commission. This was an increase from the 8 cases a day.

However, the good news is that the number of new confirmed cases in the epicentre Hubei fell for a ninth day in a row.

There were an additional 13 deaths by the end of Friday, making the total number of deaths 3,189. All of the latest deaths occurred in Hubei province and 10 of them were in the provincial capital Wuhan.

In total, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in mainland China is 80,824.

As you probably can tell from the numbers, China’s slaying the virus and is now slaying the nasty bugs outside of China.

For all you know, COVID-19 might come down to history as the virus that brings the world together.
