I know what you’re thinking – what on earth is Italian Yu Sheng?

Once again, Basilico puts its own bold twist on our beloved CNY dish and fuses it with Italian cuisine.

This Italian Yusheng starts at $88 and includes Angel Hair Pasta, Italian Black Truffle, Cured Hamachi Carpaccio, and Aged Modena Balsamic, topped off with 24 Carat Gold Dust.

Ah yes, carats, my favourite “vegetable”.

This exquisite blend of flavours is rich with symbolism, adding a dash of huat to your New Year.

You even have the option to upgrade to the Italian Luxury Yu Sheng which includes all the ingredients in the Italian Yusheng with an additional 250g of Kaluga Caviar.

Basilico’s unique yu shengs are available from 1 February to 25 February for dine-in only.

Collagen Dragonfruit Yu Sheng – Peach Garden

Next on this list is Peach Garden’s Collagen Dragonfruit Yu Sheng, the perfect way to welcome the Year of the Dragon.

Chopsuey Cafe’s Kimchi Lo Hei provides a delicious fusion experience, and even vegetarians can enjoy this dish!

Going at just $28 for the small size, this unique yu sheng combines Korean and Chinese cuisine, adding a rare spicy kick to the dish.

This dish, featuring their home-made kimchi, is also available as part of their set menus when dining in.

Bountiful Blessings Lobster Yu Sheng – Madame Fan

Yet another delectable lobster yu sheng.

From 15 January 2024 to 25 February 2024, delight in exquisite yu shengs from Madame Fan.

The juicy lobster is tender and tasty – a luxurious yu sheng indeed.

Other than the Lobster Yu Sheng, Madame Fan’s Signature Salmon & Bluefin Tuna Yu Sheng and the Blackgold Abalone Yu Sheng are available for order from $98.

The yu shengs are also available as part of sets alongside items like Charcoal Grilled Wagyu Beef & Foie Gras, Imperial Bird’s Nest Golden Broth, and Braised South African 6 Head Abalone from $198/pax.

Madame Fan’s yu shengs are available for dine-in only.

1 Km-Long Dragon Yu Sheng – Neo Garden Catering

In honour of the Year of the Dragon, Neo Garden Catering launched a 1,088m long Celestial Dragon Yusheng platter.

Any guesses on how much it costs?

A million dollars.

This 1000-metre-long platter costs $1,088,888 before tax.

After including GST, this dragon yu sheng amounts to $1,186,887.90.

Given that yu shengs are never this big or expensive, amused netizens were quick to comment on it, with one saying “the dragon better fly down from the sky and breathe fire for one minute”.

But for real, I’d like to see a 1km-long yu sheng.

How long would it take to make? How many tables would they need? How many people would it feed? Someone please order it and post it online for me to see.

Neo Garden Catering also offers smaller variations of their Celestial Dragon Yusheng such as the 8m-long Fortune Dragon Yusheng and 78m-long Longevity Dragon Yusheng at $3,888 and $58,888 respectively.

They also have a $48.80 yu sheng platter that serves six to eight people.

Only takeaway is available and a pre-order is required seven days in advance.

Tajimaya Prosperity Yu Sheng – Tajimaya Yakiniku

As Loren Allred said in “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman, there’s never enough. So here’s another yu sheng that blends cuisines.

I don’t know about you but there’s never enough sashimi when I have yu sheng. You’ll never see a slice of sashimi being the paiseh piece at my gatherings.

Thankfully, Tajimaya’s Prosperity Yu Sheng comes with six slices of not one, not two, but three types of sashimi.

This dish brings in Japanese cuisine with 18 slices total of hamachi, tuna, and salmon, as well as red tobiko and orange ebiko.

The last item on this list is Cassia’s $388 Fortune Yu Sheng.

This mouth-watering yu sheng that serves up to 10 people includes abalone, lobster, bird’s nest, Norwegian salmon, julienned vegetables and homemade berries plum sauce.

They also have the smaller $95.90 Prosperity Yu Sheng (for two to four pax) that comes with comes with Norwegian salmon, julienned vegetables as well as homemade berries plum sauce.

These yu shengs are available for dine-in and takeaway from now until 24 February 2024.
