On 12 Apr 2020, 7 new clusters were discovered in Singapore.

Five of them belongs to construction sites and dormitories while two others are restaurants:

  • Black Tap (a restaurant) at 10 Bayfront Avenue with 8 cases (all previously confirmed cases)
  • McDonald’s cluster with 4 cases (1 new case with 3 previously confirmed cases; to understand why it’s 4 cases instead of 5 cases, read this article)

Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer

A Reddit user uploaded this picture, which, he claims, was taken on 26 Mar 2020, right in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The shop has closed since 7 Apr 2020 when the Circuit Breaker kicked in.

Another user also mentioned that The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands was offering lucrative discounts for healthcare workers to show their appreciation, and Black Tap was one of the participating restaurants.

Are People Who Queued Up For IKEA Afraid Now?

The Reddit user went on to ask if people who’ve queued up for IKEA are paranoid now.

It was reported that IKEA welcomed about 40,000 people into its outlets on the last weekend before 7 Apr.

Back then, IKEA has done its best to ensure that the crowd was managed at all times and even went onto its social media platform to ask people to stop visiting and shop online instead.

A Reddit user pointed this out to the Thread Starter (TS):

They might not be, he says, as those who went to IKEA did so with “the knowledge of the virus”.

They “would have worn mask and kept safe distance”.

He also pointed out that the people who went to IKEA likely didn’t do it for #YOLO reasons, and wanted to get some furniture to work from home (WFH) and home-based learning (HBL).

IKEA had said that sales for items related to home offices spiked during that period.

Nonetheless, It’s Better To Be Safe Than Sorry

No matter whether you’ve been to Black Tap or IKEA before, take a kiasu attitude when it comes to your health.

Have a slight cough? See the doctor immediately (with a mask on).

Feeling breathless? See the doctor immediately (with a mask on).

Basically, treat everything with the utmost seriousness (including CB measures) and we’ll all pull through this safe and sound.

Don’t be that pre-school principal who dismissed her symptoms and went for a course with fellow employees and caused the entire chain of preschools across Singapore to close for four days.
