This is Dr Amy Khor, our Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.

Recently, she took to Facebook to share a photo of her cooking bee hoon for lunch, presumedly because she wants to do her part in asking people to #stayhome during this circuit breaker period.

Except, sharp-eyed netizens noticed something immediately.

Three trays of eggs sitting innocently in the background. That’s 90 eggs.

Removed It After Her Photo Drew Flak From Netizens

Fairprice has imposed a limit on products to prevent hoarding and panic-buying and each individual is only able to purchase 30 eggs.

So the fact that a minister of Singapore, who’s part of a group asking people not to hoard, seems to have been hoarding adequate supplies for herself, it struck a nerve in netizens.

One person took a screenshot of her post and shared it with the following caption:

“Minister Chan CS says don’t panic buy to hoard, else very Sia Suay. Maybe SMoS Amy has a very big family. Besides the eggs, there’s a stack of rice (?) further behind.

Her photo was subsequently removed.

She replaced that photo with these photos instead.

She Also Took To Facebook To Clarify Why She Had 90 Eggs

She knew that her previous photo has raised a big hooha on social media and decided to explain herself.

For one, she lives with a large family of seven and they do their grocery shopping once a week.

She added that her entire family uses a lot of eggs, including her 90-year-old mother.

“My mother, my two daughters and myself are fond of cooking and baking.

“In fact, even though my mum is 90 years old, she cooks every day and uses eggs quite often as a key ingredient, such as in dishes like mee siam, longtong, foo yong egg etc.

“My son and husband also regularly have half boiled eggs.”

As for the 90 eggs, she claims that it was actually given by one of her friends who is a farmer.

Pretty snazzy how she slides in the part about doing weekly grocery shopping instead of going daily.

One thing for sure, though, people aren’t going to let her get away with using photos with plotholes.
