Singapore might be a safe place…

But you’ll still be ill-advised to leave your house unlocked.

“Why?” asked Reader DragonRaja911. “I always leave it unlocked. It’s so convenient.”

Well, it’s because you might just come back home to find a stranger showering in your bathroom. And lest you’re wondering…

That might work in adult videos, but it sure as hell doesn’t work in reality.

Daughter & Mother Returned to Their Punggol HDB Flat to Find a Burglar Showering in Their Bathroom

According to Lianhe Wanbaoa mother and daughter returned home from dinner to find a male stranger in their Punggol HDB flat, drying his head with the daughter’s pants after taking a shower in their bathroom.

Well, things sure escalated quickly.

The incident is reported to have occurred on 28 March 2020. The 27-year-old mother opted to bring her daughter out for dinner, and turned off the electrical sockets before leaving the house unlocked at around 7:15pm.

While they were out, a 51-year-old man passed by their flat and noticed that it was empty.

He then plotted to infiltrate the flat, in a move that would have made dear Tom Cruise proud. Questionable, but still proud.

First, he shifted the CCTV camera outside the woman’s house before opening the front door.

Once he stepped into the house, he found another CCTV camera inside: he proceeded to knock it, causing the device to fall onto a bed.

When the coast was clear, he reportedly rushed into the bathroom to take a shower, grabbing the woman’s daughter’s pants to use as a drying towel.

“No!”

At around 10:30pm, the woman and her daughter returned home.

Noticing that the bathroom lights were switched on, the woman moved closer to the bathroom, where the man was drying his hair with the makeshift ‘towel’.

“Who are you?” she shouted.

“No!” the evidently surprised man yelled, while running out of the house.

Well, I can only wonder what the daughter was thinking the whole time.

After the startling incident, the woman proceeded to dial the police. It should be noted that though the CCTV cameras and the woman’s laptop were shifted, nothing valuable was taken.

Still, it doesn’t really make the man’s offence any less redeemable.

Caught

The man’s identity was later verified, and he was arrested on 1 April.

He was subsequently recognised as an ex-convict.

According to the news report, the man was charged in court on 27 May, and given five months’ worth of jail time.

Well, that doesn’t sound worth it at all.

And so, to folks who might be keen on taking a shower in others’ premises…

I would suggest that you ask for permission first, as the alternative could mean plenty of time behind bars.

Also, don’t take adult videos as inspiration because that shit’s fake af.
