Tomorrow is the day that the authorities might have cleared all the dormitories, but like what your parents would say, there’s today before tomorrow.

And today…it’s the high before the low.

Today, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed an additional 301 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore.

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 54,555

Out of today’s cases, 4 are community cases, with 3 being Singaporeans or Singapore PRs.

There are also 4 imported cases, and all of them were placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.

A majority of the cases are residents living in dormitories.

On average, based on yesterday’s numbers, the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of 4 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 2 per day in the past week.

The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased, from an average of 2 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 1 per day in the past week.

And if you’re scratching your head after reading the first paragraph, here’s a recap.

Dormitory Clusters Expected to Clear by Tomorrow (7 August 2020)

Two days from now, we might finally be able to see a headline like this:

By 7 August 2020, MOH would have cleared all the dormitories except for a few standalone blocks in the dormitories that serve as quarantine facilities. As of yesterday, there are about 9,700 workers in these quarantine facilities. They will have to serve out their 14-day isolation periods, and be subject to an exit test before they are able to resume work.

In addition, as of yesterday, 47,768 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities. 126 confirmed cases are still in hospital while 6,333 patients are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

Currently, there is one patient in ICU.
