Yesterday, it was reported that a 64-year-old Singaporean has died from Covid-19 complications after he was medically evacuated from Indonesia to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) for treatment last month.

The man has not been included in Singapore’s Covid-19 case count, however, as he was already an overseas registered case.

So, the country’s fatality count remains at 29.

According to MOH, the Singaporean had been residing in Indonesia since 17 March last year.

He contracted the coronavirus while there, testing positive on 26 Jan. He was hospitalised in Indonesia the next day.

Then, on 29 Jan, the man was medically evacuated to the NCID for treatment.

His test taken in Singapore on 30 Jan also came back positive for Covid-19.

Sadly, the man died on Friday (26 Feb) due to Covid-19 complications. MOH noted that the man had a history of hyperlipidaemia, where abnormally high levels of fats (lipids) are in the blood. It’s one of the main risk factors for coronary heart disease and stroke.

NCID has reached out to the man’s family and is extending assistance to them.
