Sometimes you read the news and you feel there’s no justice in the world. From molestation cases to fatal accidents, the news can be somewhat depressing.

In Singapore, although you still do read about such horrific cases at least the justice system is rather fair. Presenting another molestation case, fairly sentenced.

60YO Man Paid A 12YO Boy S$10 to ‘Check The Size of His Underwear’; Man Proceeded to Strip Him and Grab His Genitals

On Thursday, 1 April 2021, 60-year-old Mohamed Taha Ahmed was sentenced to 14 months’ jail for molesting an underage boy.

He was arrested last year on 28 October after targeting a 12-year-old boy and following him home.

The incident occurred on 22 October 2020. At around 10:00 am at Bedok Interchange, Taha approached the young boy and followed him onto the bus,  chatting with him about school.

They then alighted at a block of flats in Bedok North. Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Niranjan Ranjakunalan noted that the accused did not live in the area, and his sole reason for alighting there was to follow the victim.

Taha had asked the boy if he could help him with something but did not specify what it was.

They proceeded to board a lift together. In the lift, Taha asked the boy what size his underwear was, shocking him.

The accused then offered the boy S$10 to check the size of his underwear. The boy took the money without saying anything.

When they exited the lift, Taha brought the victim over to the staircase landing and molested him. He pulled down the victim’s shorts and underwear to look at his exposed genitals.

When the boy pulled himself away, Taha pulled the victim’s shorts and underwear from the back to look at his exposed buttocks.

The boy pushed Taha away and told him that he did like what he was doing. DPP Niranjan said that Taha then grabbed the victim’s genitals once over his shorts

The victim pushed Taha’s hand away and wanted to give back the S$10. Taha still asked the young boy to follow him to another staircase landing but he refused.

The boy told a teacher at his school about the incident and they had advised him to lodge a police report.

According to The Straits Times, Taha is out on bail of S$8,000. He will start his jail term on 17 May after celebrating Hari Raya Puasa earlier that month.

Taha could have been jailed for up to five years, fined or both. However, he cannot be caned as he is over the age of 50.
