Throughout the ages, humans have used a variety of techniques to settle disputes.

Some use their fists, some use their words, while others say “hmpf” and walk away.

Very rarely, if ever, has conflict resolution involved flinging pieces of chicken at someone. But that’s exactly what one disgruntled customer did recently.

Why? Because he had to pay an extra dollar for chicken.

Customer Threw Chicken & Plate at Hawker

A video of a customer throwing chicken pieces at a Chicken Rice stallholder is making the rounds on social media.

The footage, which was captured on the stall’s CCTV camera, was shared on the stall’s Facebook page.

The incident took place at 56 New Upper Changi Road on Wednesday (5 May) in the evening.

At the beginning of the video, nothing untoward happens; a man simply goes up to a Chicken Rice stall and orders some food.

The stallholder and the customer chit-chat for a little bit, and everything seems fine and dandy.

The man then gathers some cash as the stallholder prepares his food.

When the stallholder serves the man a plate of chicken, the man grows agitated and starts gesticulating wildly while speaking to the stallholder.

The video had its audio muted, so it’s unclear what exactly the man said.

One thing that is certain, though, is that the customer was rather displeased.

At around the two-and-a-half-minute mark, the man grabs his plate of delicious-looking chicken and continues his lecture.

Half a minute later he flings the juicy pieces of chicken at the stallholder, but because of his terrible aim, all the chicken pieces land on the counter.

He then swipes the chicken pieces off the counter toward the stallholder with the plate, and this time, some pieces hit its intended target.

After which the customer flings the empty plate at the stallholder and misses once again (man, this guy really has bad aim).

So, what could have possibly made this man so mad that he flung chicken at a stallholder?

One dollar.

One dollar.

Wanted $2 Chicken Instead of $3 Chicken

In its post, Hong Shi Chicken Rice added photos of a police report made by the stallholder.

Here’s what it said:

“On May 5, 2021, at about 6:35pm, a customer purchased a plate of chicken rice at my stall. The plate of chicken rice was priced at S$8. The customer had no issue paying for it.

After 10 to 15 minutes, the customer came back and requested an additional serving of chicken for S$2.

However, I told him that it is our company’s policy that the minimum price for a serving of additional chicken was S$3.

He was unhappy and asked me why he could not get a S$2 serving.

I then explained to him that if he had asked for a S$2 serving of additional chicken when he bought the plate of chicken rice, it would be fine.

I still prepared the S$3 serving of additional chicken and placed it on the serving area. He told me that if he could not finish the food, I will have to eat it.

I then said that I am not an animal and I do not want to eat leftovers. He started hurling vulgarities at me and scolding my mother. He then proceeded to throw the plate of chicken at me and left.

I do not know the customer, however, I do see him around the coffee shop frequently.

I told my supervisor about the incident and he told me to lodge a police report.”

Yes, the man threw chicken pieces at the stallholder because he had to pay an extra dollar for his chicken.

Unsurprisingly, many netizens slammed the customer for what one called a “dogsh*t” attitude.

A few, however, believed the stall was a little too rigid in its pricing policy.

What do you think?
