The Omicron variant might soon make life difficult again, but for now, our COVID-19 situation has certainly improved.

While our case numbers increased slightly yesterday our ICU utilisation rate and the number of large COVID-19 clusters have decreased.

If you missed the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) update about our COVID-19 situation yesterday, here’s everything you need to know:

1,103 New COVID-19 Cases

1,103 new COVID-19 cases were reported yesterday (29 Nov), an increase of 356 from the previous day’s tally.

The cases comprise 1,070 infections in the community, 25 in migrant worker dormitories, and eight imported infections.

Among the local cases are 183 seniors above 60.

9 COVID-19 Fatalities 

Sadly, nine more COVID-19 cases succumbed to the virus, bringing our death toll to 710.

Aged between 58 and 91, all of them had various underlying medical conditions except for an unvaccinated case.

MOH Closely Monitoring 1 Large Cluster

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is closely monitoring one large cluster with new cases, namely at Jenaris Home @ Pelangi Village.

With five new cases, the cluster has swelled to 126 infections. Of the 126 cases, two are staff members and 124 are residents.

1,158 COVID-19 Cases in Hospital; 79 in ICU

At the moment, there are 1,158 COVID-19 cases warded in hospitals, most of whom are well and under observation.

221 serious cases require oxygen supplementation and 79 are in the intensive care unit, comprising 17 cases who are unstable and under close monitoring, and 62 who are critically ill and intubated.

Over the past seven days, the number of fully vaccinated and non-fully vaccinated cases who have been critically ill in the ICU are at 0.5 and 4.3 per 100,000 population respectively.

The same figures for seniors aged 60 and above are 1.7 and 40.7 respectively.

Over the same period, the number of fully vaccinated and non-fully vaccinated cases who died are 0.04 and 0.4 per 100,000 population respectively.

The same figures for seniors aged 60 and above are 0.2 and 4.5 respectively.

Currently, 85% of our population has been fully vaccinated and 86% have received at least one dose. 26% have received their booster shots.

2 Travellers Who Transited in Singapore Confirmed to Be Infected With Omicron Variant 

Two travellers who transited in Singapore before flying to Sydney have tested positive for the Omicron variant.

The travellers had arrived on Sunday (27 Nov) and landed in Sydney that same day. Their pre-departure tests were negative and they had remained in the transit area until their departure.

It turns out that one was a close contact of an infected individual on the flight.

Contact tracing efforts are ongoing.
