Exactly how bad can the internet be?

Well, as bad as some mothers-in-law, as local celebrity Cynthia Koh found out.

Here’s what happened.

Why So Sexy At This Age?

On 3 Dec 2021, Cynthia Koh was at the Asian Academy Creative Awards ceremony held in Singapore.

She was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in My Star Bride.

This means there’s a real possibility that she has to stand on stage to receive the prize in front of many eyes.

So getting dressed to the nines? No issue with that.

Unfortunately for Koh, not everyone is a fan of how she dresses.

Some pointed out her age and asked why she would want to wear such a revealing dress and be so sexy at an age where she can already be a grandmother.

Serious mother-in-law vibes here, people.

Cynthia Koh Hits Back

Well, never let it be said that celebrities will lie back and let everyone trample over them.

Koh took the opportunity to hit back at haters on Saturday with an Instagram Story.

“If your grandmother is as hot and sexy and can carry the outfit well, please wear it. For 47, losing weight, maintaining this body is a lot of discipline and commitment.”

She asks women to flaunt their figures if they could.

“If you can look classy, still have all the great curves, don’t hide them. They don’t last forever. Milk it while it lasts.”

Her views were also shared by Patricia Law, the founder of social media agency GoodStuph.

Defended Fellow Celebrity Against Netizen

Turns out, Koh wasn’t the only one targeted by netizens.

Actress Chantalle Ng who also starred in My Star Bride, had wished Koh “all the best” before the results were released.

Then, she had addressed Koh as “lao jiejie” (old sister).

A netizen told Ng that she had no right to call others “old” but Koh stepped in to intervene, saying it’s an endearing term used by Ng’s character in the drama.

Moral of the story? Don’t give everything a social spin, sometimes, things are meant as a joke, and only that.
