An evangelical pastor has passed away due to the coronavirus. But this sad piece of news is not the only thing everyone’s talking about.

A Pastor in the US Who Still Got People to Go to His Church Has Died Due to COVID-19

An evangelical pastor has made headlines after he died from the coronavirus mere weeks after he had shown off how crowded his Virginia church was.

He had also vowed to continue preaching “unless I’m in jail or the hospital.”

Bishop Gerald O. Glenn last held his service on 22 March.

He had asked that his congregation at Richmond’s New Deliverance Evangelistic Church stand in order to show off how many were present.

Here’s why.

At the time, there were strong warnings to discourage gatherings of more than 10 people.

Unfortunately, he did not listen and chose to place his faith in God without heeding the warnings.

“I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus. You can quote me on that,” he said, repeating it a second time to claps, saying that “people are healed” in his church.

He had also announced that he was not afraid to die.

Vowed To Keep Church Open

He had acknowledged that he was being “controversial” by being “in violation” of safety protocols by having “way more than 10 people” at the church.

However, he was adamant that he would keep his church open “unless I’m in jail or the hospital”.

He also believed that he was “an essential” because he spoke with God.

“I am essential,” he said of keeping his Church open, and added, “I’m a preacher, I talk to God!”

Died A Week After Contracting The COVID-19

Unfortunately, on Sunday, the church had announced “with an exceedingly sorrowful and heavy heart” that the pastor had passed away a week after he had tested positive for the highly contagious coronavirus.

His wife, Marcietia Glenn has also tested positive for the coronavirus and church members are currently offering their prayers.

Their daughter, Mar-Gerie Crawley told media that her father had thought that the symptoms were unrelated to the coronavirus as he suffers from a condition that often leads to fevers and infections.

Now, she is encouraging everyone to stay at home, telling media that the situation “becomes very real to you” after both her parents had tested positive for the virus.

“I just beg people to understand the severity and the seriousness of this, because people are saying it’s not just about us, it’s about everyone around us.”

At the end of the day, it is imperative to heed warnings and abide by safety protocols because they’ve been implemented for a reason.
Stay safe everyone.
