The Ministry of Health has recently revised the number of new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases for Jun 12.

Instead of the 12 cases as reported before, the updated number has been confirmed and verified by MOH to be 9 instead as 3 were verified to be negative instead.

There are also 5 unlinked cases reported.

Unlinked Community Cases Include a SIM Student Who Was Last in School on 24 May

The most recent confirmed unlinked community case includes an 18-year-old female Singaporean student who studies at SIM Global Education.

After developing a runny nose and fever on 10 June, she went to a General Practitioner (GP) clinic on 11 June where she was subjected to an antigen rapid test (ART) as well as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.

Her ART result came back positive and she was promptly isolated.

Her PCR result came back later but it confirmed the ART result.

Her serology test, however, is still pending.

Other unlinked community cases include

  • A 27-year-old female domestic worker from Myanmar who was tested positive on 11 June after developing a fever on 10 June.
  • A 57-year-old male Malaysian who works as a land rigger at Jurong Port Pte Ltd. He was vaccinated but showing signs of asymptomatic infection. It is likely that he is shedding minute fragments of the virus RNA, resulting in a positive test result. His subsequent test on 12 June came back negative.
  • A 45-year-old female cleaner from China who works at ION Orchard. She’s asymptomatic.
  • A 68-year-old male Singaporean landscape gardener at Amozania Landscape Pte Ltd. After developing a runny nose and cough on 8 June, he sought medical treatment at a GP clinic on 11 June and subsequently tested positive for COVID-19. He was fully vaccinated.

Contact tracing revealed a new cluster – the MARINA ARIEL

After a 38-year-old male Indonesian national who worked as a sea crew aboard the tugboat MARINA ARIEL was tested positive, contact tracing was immediately deployed.

As a result, 2 more positive cases are detected, with more cases possibly to come.

They are:

  • a 40-year-old Indonesian engineer who worked on the same tugboat and is a workplace contact of the 38-year-old sea crew.
  • Another 38-year-old Indonesian sea crew is also a workplace contact of the first positive case of the cluster.

Other Linked Cases

There are 2 other linked cases. One of them was detected through surveillance and the other was a household contact of 3 previous cases.

The one detected through surveillance is an 82-year-old female Singaporean who regularly helps out at a sundry store at 115 Bukit Merah View Market & Hawker Centre. She developed a fever and shortness of breath on 10 June and sought medical treatment at a polyclinic on 11 June.

Her PCR test result also came back positive for COVID-19 infection on 11 June. Her serology test result is pending. She was fully vaccinated.

The second linked case is a 35-year-old female Malaysian national who works as an administrative staff at Ces Lamination Pte Ltd. She’s a household contact of 3 previous cases:

  • 30-year-old male Malaysian national who works as an administrative staff at Sin Wei Precision Mechanical
  • 35-year-old male Malaysian national who is a kitchen crew at Kota Zheng Zong Bak Kut Teh (Serangoon Gardens).
  • 29-year-old female Malaysian national who works as a waitress at Chir Chir Restaurant (Bugis Junction).

9 Imported Cases

There are 9 imported cases yesterday. They include 6 Singaporeans and 3 Singapore Permanent Residents who returned from India, Portugal, Russia, Thailand, the UK and the US.

All of them had already been placed on stay-home notice upon arrival in Singapore and were tested while serving Stay Home Notice.

391 Active Cases

There are currently 125 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 1 is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

266 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

34 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
