People all over Singapore might be worried about the Covid-19, but it’s business as usual over at Samsung, which released their highly anticipated S20 phones and a flip phone that’s most probably named by a kindergarten student, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.

Reader Bao: Has the kindergarten student learned maths yet? Why skip from S10 to S20?

I’m not sure, but it’s mentioned that the 20 actually stands for 2020, so maybe they’re just trying to get creative with names.

Reader Bao: But Galaxy Z Flip surely isn’t creative…

I know. But it sure is expensive.

Samsung Launched S20 , Galaxy Z Flip & Galaxy Buds+

Over in the US, just hours ago, Samsung brought hundreds of reporter in a big room to show off their latest gadgets. Pretty sure the local authorities here would have gone apeshit if this happened in Singapore, but anyways.

The South Korea giant unveiled three main products: the S20 line of phones, the Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Buds+.

If you’re a rich fellow who’s thinking of changing phone, then read on.

Galaxy S20 Phones

If you’re like Reader Bao, you’d probably think that Samsung is skipping 9 numbers to 20, but it’s not: the 20 marks the new decade we’re in now.

Yes, the decade that started with threats of WW3, lots of fires and a nasty bug called Covid-19.

There would be three variants: Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra. Without contract, they’ll start from USD$999, USD$1,199 and USD$1,399.

All support 5G, and they’re almost a déjà vu of iPhone 11, as each variant that’s more expensive looks more like a strove.

At 6.2”, 6.7” and 6.9”, these are pretty big phones with specs that are so impressive, they could well be better than your laptop.

The highest-end phone, the S20 Ultra, has a whopping 5000 mAh battery which can be fully changed in 74 minutes, and a 16GB RAM.

16 GB RAM leh; that kind of specs can be used for intensive video editing seh.

You can view the specs of the phones here. But if you’re just a person who uses a phone to watch videos and WhatsApp, then you just need to know the specs are crazy.

As for the cameras, they’re even crazier—the highest-end S20 Ultra has a 108-megapixel wide-angel camera, and it can zoom up to 100X.

That means you might be able to look at rabbits dancing on the moon with this phone.

Galaxy Z Flip

S20 might be impressive, but Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip stole the show.

Back in 1819, we oldies all went apeshit over flip phones—especially the Motorola Razr phone.

Motorola knew about this and created a smartphone catered for us oldies who likes to end a call with a flip.

It turns out that Samsung has heard our calls, too.

The star of the show is Galaxy Z Flip, and since words can’t describe it, here’s a video for you to drool over:

The foldable phone is 6.7” when opened, and just like the Motorola Razr, it has a screen when closed as well.

After its Galaxy Fold initial flop, Samsung now says that this foldable phone is strong enough to be folded and unfolded for more than 200,000 times.

At almost SGD$2,000, you can say that you’re buying it for the cool factor instead of its specs, and unlike S20 Ultra, it only has 8GB RAM and a 3300 mAh battery.

Galaxy Buds+

The last product that Samsung introduced is the Galaxy Buds+, but no one cares so we’re ending the article here.

Reader Bao: But I’m here for the Galaxy Buds+

Ok, then you just need to know this: it’s just an improvement to their original Buds, with a + in its name and a higher price.

Prices of Phones in Singapore

The S20 phones will be available for pre-orders from 1pm today (12 February 2020) in all Singapore telcos at a price of $1.2K to $1.9K without contract.
