Yesterday, we wrote about how the first two weeks of May will be wetter and warmer.

We’ll see more rain, the weathermen of Singapore said.

But what we did not know is that some people in Singapore do not need the warning anymore.

Because they’ve experienced it firsthand for themselves.

Moderate To Strong Thunderstorms With Strong Winds

At 3pm on 30 Apr, the National Environment Agency of Singapore (NEA) issued an alert.

They indicated that moderate to heavy thunderstorms with strong winds will occur over several parts of Singapore.

And it did.

The heavy rain caused trees in many parts of the country to fall and several roads to become waterways, making it hard for vehicles to pass through.

A resident told Zaobao that the water came in so fast he could only put newspapers at his home to try and absorb the water.

He remembered that the water was around the calf area outside the house and shared that several pair of shoes were washed away.

And That Wasn’t The End Of His Misery

The toilet was suddenly blocked, he said, and it overflowed, causing the waste to flow back into his toilet.

Talk about shit hitting the fan.

The house was in a mess, the stench was unbearable and took some time to clean up.

He shared that the rainstorm stopped after half an hour and the water (finally) started to recede.

While the government has improved the drainage system in the area, but he guessed that due to the reduced number of cleaning, the waterway might’ve been blocked.
