If you’ve got an elderly relative who’s still too scared to take the lift even though we’ve already been in the 21st century for over 20 years, you might feel like they’re troublesome.

But after you watch this video and read this article… You might think differently.

Just a few days ago, a group of people in a lift were trapped in it after it allegedly “plunged” four levels down.

No, this didn’t happen in Singapore. But it happened in a hotel in Johor Bahru, so close enough.

According to the video, the incident occurred at KSL Resort Johor Bahru City Centre.

Those in the lift ended up having to pry open the doors by themselves too.

JB Hotel Lift Plunged Four Storeys Down, Trapping Guests for Ten Minutes

Earlier this week, TikTok user @kef_tan uploaded the following video of the guests’ harrowing experience.

In the caption of the video, he wrote,  “Can you imagine [how] the feeling plunging down from level 4 all of a sudden feels like? [It’s] horrifying & [it’s] nothing like in the movie[;] there is no split second for [you] to take any action.”

He added that the guests experienced a “hard stop” at the fourth floor before a “full drop” occurred.

The video started by showing the guests trapped in the lift climbing out of it while others held the pried-open doors open.

Yup, that isn’t an optical illusion. The lifts were actually pried open to a triangle-like shape.

Emergency Bell Didn’t Work; No One Came to Their Assistance

Apart from that, the TikTok user also revealed that there was a baby in the lift with the other guests.

He also spoke about how after being stuck in the dark for ten minutes, the guests in the lift “decided to take the risk” and pry the lift doors open.

Additionally, he called the hotel management out by pointing out that the emergency bell did not work and that no one came to their aid during the ten minutes when they were trapped in the lift.

However, while this seems like an incredibly frightening experience, it also seems like it’s not the first time something like this has happened.

In particular, two netizens in the comments section shared that they had been through similar scary experiences at the same hotel as well.

One of the netizens also mentioned that the lift emergency bell button did not work when she was trapped in the lift too.
