They say a picture speaks a thousand words.

Well, an Instagram photo posted by a celebrity can spawn an entire novel series based on fan speculation alone.

So, if you’re adored by millions of people and post a picture of something as innocuous as a bowl of food, you could inadvertently send your fans into a frenzy.

A frenzy of anxiety, that is.

Normal fan: Oh, some shredded chicken porridge, toasted bread, fresh fruit, and a hot drink. Nice.

Die-hard fan: OH MY GOD JJ BABY ARE YOU OKAY THIS IS CLEARLY TOO SIMPLE A MEAL FOR YOU, YOU MUST BE IN THE HOSPITAL!

The post sparked speculation that the songwriter was in the hospital, with some commenters pointing out the blanket underneath Lin’s tray.

“What happened? Hope you get well soon,” one commenter said.

Many others wished him a speedy recovery, though there was one netizen who asked the only question that actually mattered:

Manager Confirms Fans’ Suspicions

In response to the growing speculation, Lin’s manager confirmed that the 40-year-old is indeed in hospital. But it’s nothing serious.

“He is well. It is just a routine health check-up,” his manager told Lianhe Zaobao.

Live Charity Performance a Huge Success: Health Minister Also Attended It

On 27 and 28 Nov this year, Lin performed  “After The Rain” at Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands. It was a charity performance that doubled as a live and virtual concert.

It was the first physical concert JJ Lin had performed in two years, and it was such a momentous event that even our Health Minister Ong Ye Kung attended it. It ended up selling out with 2,000 fans attending on the first day.

All concert-goers had to be masked at all times and needed to be fully vaccinated, of course.

Tickets to the show were priced from $288 for a pair, going up to $688 for VIP tickets.
