There are a lot of things that one might do after winning a multi-million lawsuit.

And according to American actor Johnny Depp, creating a TikTok account’s on the list as well.

After winning the high-profile lawsuit against his ex-wife and actress Amber Heard on 1 June, it seems like Depp’s on to greener pastures in life.

And that includes his TikTok debut, which happened on Tuesday (7 June).

His first video on the video-sharing platform took many fans down memory lane, with snippets of him waving to fans, playing the guitar on stage and typing on a typewriter.

Within a day of posting, the clip has gained over 23.1 million views, 7.4 million likes and 338,600 comments.

Depp’s account has also gained 10.4 million followers since it was created, and had around 4 million followers even before his first video was posted.

Prior to Depp creating his account, the trial between Depp, 59 and Heard, 36, was also trending on the platform when many of his fans stepped up to express their support for him.

Depp later reposted the TikTok onto his Instagram account which has 25 million followers, as well as his Facebook page which has over 24 million followers.

In the caption of the video, he expressed his gratitude for his fans’ support.

“To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together. We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together, all because you cared.

“And now, we will all move forward together. You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD,” he wrote.

Recently on 1 June, the six-week trial between ex-couple Depp and Heard ended after the jury ruled in Depp’s favour.

Depp had initially sued Heard for US$50 million (approximately S$68 million) after she published an op-ed in The Washington Post back in 2018 claiming that she was a victim of domestic abuse.

Heard retaliated by countersuing her former husband for US$100 million (approximately S$137 million).

However, the jury sided with Depp last Wednesday (1 June) and awarded him US$15 million (approximately S$21 million) in damages from Heard.

The amount was later reduced to US$10.35 million (approximately S$14.2 million).

Heard, who won one of the counterclaims, will receive US$2 million (approximately S$2.7 million) in damages from Depp.

In response to Depp’s TikTok debut, Heard issued a statement to entertainment portal ET via her representative that while “Depp says that he is moving forward, women’s rights are moving backward.”

She also wrote, “The verdict’s message to victims of domestic violence is… be afraid to stand up and speak out.”
