Always wanted a foldable smartphone ever since you saw Samsung’s version?

Except, $3,000 is a bit too steep for your liking, even if it’s a foldable phone.

Well, if you’ve been waiting for the future to come for some time now, Microsoft has released a much cheaper folding phone.

And don’t worry, it’s an Android phone, not a Windows.

Microsoft Releases Foldable Smartphone & It Cost Over Almost S$2,000

On 12 August, GSM Arena reported that Microsoft has revealed its latest brainchild: The Surface Duo Foldable Smartphone

Specs

It has two 5.6” FHD+ OLED displays with 4:3 aspect ratios, with 360-degree hinges.

The foldable smartphone runs on last year’s Snapdragon 855 and is powered by a 3,577 mAH battery.

Which doesn’t really sound impressive, to be honest. That’s 423mAH lesser than Samsung’s S20, which boasts a 4,000mAH battery and just almost 200mAH more than Samsung S10.

It comes with a single 11MP camera with F/2,0 aperture on top of the right display alongside the LED flash.

The camera apparently has a “super zoom” feature which allows you to zoom up to 7x.

It can also record 4K videos at up to 60fps and comes with EIS.

Multitasking

Yes, this Microsoft foldable smartphone doesn’t place a lot on emphasis on photography or videography.

What it really shines at, according to reports, is multitasking.

Powered by Android 10, this foldable smartphone, Microsoft believes, will revolutionise how we work on the go.

Office and OneDrive Android Apps were reworked specifically for this device and third-party apps like Kindle are reportedly customising their apps too.

And as if that’s not powerful enough, all existing Android apps can be used on the device and it can “machine learn” to predict your habits so you’ll have a nicer time using it.

Unboxing The Box

Okay, so we didn’t receive anything from Microsoft to unbox but the folks at GSM Arena did.

Here’s what’s in the box:

It’s also reported that both screens can support Microsoft Surface pens, so if you’re a doodler, this could be the device for you.
