There are a bunch of MMA fights going on now but it appears that Singapore has its very own brand of fights—the UFC.

What’s UFC, you may ask? Definitely not a UFO or KFC.

It’s “Uncle Fighting Championship”, a tongue-in-cheek label coined by TikTok user @uhhuhdon in a video posted on the social media platform yesterday.

And boy, is there some action going on.

A police report has also been lodged about this matter and the investigations are underway.

Viral Video Show a Fight in Joo Chiat

We know that Joo Chiat is known for good food but it has apparently added a new item to its ranks—fight spot.

In a 55-second video posted by TikTok user @uhhuhdon, an altercation between four individuals plays out. This video appears to be filmed from a shotgun passenger in a car travelling in the opposite direction given the short appearance of a car’s rear-view mirror in the first part of the video.

Let’s try our hand at being “sports” commentators, shall we?

In the beginning of the video, a man sporting a short buzz cut and clad in a red t-shirt and white shorts is seen getting out of the driver’s seat of a silver car parked in front of a make shift bus stop.

The “match” begins when the man in the red shirt is seen running along the side of the road against the traffic direction and chases a black car.

The car stops for a short period, said man in the red shirt catches up with the car, and throws a vicious punch against the front passenger’s car window.

Ouch. Metal against flesh—that punch must have hurt.

The black car then drives forward in a couple of inches and stops with the man continuing to throw punches against the passenger window.

The man clad in red is also seen standing and pointing his hand at the driver in a classic Singaporean “wah lau eh” stance.

As the black car continues to roll forward, a flash of yellow is seen. And it turns out to be what appears to be an umbrella, wielded by a woman with her hair tied back. She continues to whack the hood of the car as it rolls to a stop.

The red shirt man is now standing directly in the car’s path, pointing aggressively at the black car. All we can say at this point in time is that this man’s conflict resolution style is definitely not avoiding style.

The driver of the black car, clad in a blue shirt and black sliders, appears to have had enough as he angrily gets out of the car and walks furiously towards his “opponent”.

This aura of fury this second contender has could rival the pro-wrestlers.

The man clad in red and white puts his hands up in a defensive position as the man in blue advances menacingly towards him and throws a punch. The two men start engaging in a fistfight by the side of the road, including with a few attempted kicks from the man in blue.

At some point in time during this fight between two (presumably) alpha males, the yellow umbrella-wielding woman joins in, trying to land a blow on the man in blue with her yellow umbrella from a distance.

A second woman with straight hair and long pants appears and joins the fight, trying to throw a couple of feeble blows against the man in blue but she gives up and stands there after a futile effort. She then switches tactic to fighting with her words as she can be seen pointing and shouting at the man in blue.

After several other punches (and the car this video was filmed from starts rolling forward), the red man is seen falling to the ground, together with the second woman.

Not a K.O. though.

Both of them get up and all three of them continue attacking the driver of the black car, who is not conservative with his retaliation.

The video ends, without providing a conclusion as to the fight.

However, we speculate that the issue ended with the man in the red shirt was attempting an escape as the quadruplet was headed back towards the silver car, driven by the man in red.

What Triggered the Fight

While there has not been an official statement about what triggered this incident, according to MSNews, it appears that this was a road rage-inspired altercation.

According to an eyewitness, both cars were driving by a Joo Chiat junction waiting to turn into Joo Chiat Terrace but were caught in traffic, setting the stage for the fight. A near-collision between the two cars before that could also have cause tensions to escalate.

Well, we wouldn’t be surprised.

Road rage can definitely bring out the worst in us. Remember the woman who ripped a licence plate off another car at the Tuas Second Link?

For this stunt pulled by the group of four, they may be charged with affray (which simply put, is fighting in public that causes peace to be disturbed).

The punishment for convicted individuals may be imprisonment of up to one year and a fine of up to $5,000.
