COVID-19 has changed everyone’s habits, including that stubborn old uncle of yours who refuses to do anything online because the Internet is “toxic”.

With Singapore implementing measures after measures to keep us at home, it’s no surprise that online platforms are now overwhelmed—so much so that LTA has temporarily allowed taxi and PHV drivers to deliver food and groceries.

But that doesn’t seem to help as Redmart is so overwhelmed, they’re seeing red in their operations.

Redmart Suspending All New Purchases After a Surge in Orders; Will Only Resume on Sat (4 April)

Go to Redmart now and you’d see this:

From now on, they’re not taking new orders because of a “surge in orders”.

However, for people who’ve already placed their orders and have an upcoming delivery, the orders would still be delivered.

In addition, any orders above 100kg may be cancelled, and we all know why.

When delivery resumes, there might be changes in the platform; they would be more daily necessities such as rice, flour and eggs.

Also, they’re working to allow each household to order just twice a week, and deliveries would be left at the doorstep to minimize physical contact.

The CEO of Redmart says, “We seek the understanding of our customers during this time, as we continue to fine-tune our operations under the current landscape.”

Other Platforms Also Facing the Same Problem

In other words, while people aren’t hoarding in supermarkets now, they clicking fastly online now.

But of course, with purchase limit like this…
