If there’s one “gift” that absolutely no one will ever want from a neighbour, it’s bugs.

And I don’t even have to explain why.

But it seems like this man living in Telok Blangah has ended up with the one ‘gift’ that no one wants.

Recently, a man named Shen Wenbao (Hanyu pinyin) spoke to Shin Min Daily News about an issue that has been bugging (Get it?) him.

Mr Shen, who lives in a tenth-storey Housing Development Board (HDB) unit at Block 76 Telok Blangah Drive, explained that his neighbour’s house is infested by cockroaches.

As a result, dozens of them appear in front of his home on a daily basis.

Mr Shen, a 64-year-old food delivery rider, even revealed that at least five to six cockroaches fly into his house every day, meaning that he has to get rid of them all the time.

He also claimed that cockroaches often appear along the corridor outside his unit.

When reporters from Shin Min visited Mr Shen’s home, they saw a large handful of cockroaches scurrying about at his doorstep.

Mr Shen even performed a “live demonstration” of sorts by killing around a dozen cockroaches with his broom and pesticide.

He pointed out that the cockroaches all come from his next-door neighbour’s unit and even claimed that he once saw “an uncountable number” of cockroaches under his neighbour’s bed.

Mr Shen explained that he is extremely particular when it comes to cleanliness and that he cleans his home every single week.

However, even with his high levels of cleanliness, his neighbour’s cockroaches still “invade” his home.

According to photos Mr Shen showed the reporters, he just killed dozens of cockroaches in one go a few days ago.

Live maggots also recently appeared at his doorstep for the first time.

With regards to the crawling maggots, Mr Shen raised the possibility of meat rotting in his neighbour’s home.

As for how Mr Shen combats the infestation of insects, he said that he uses at least four bottles of pesticide every month.

He said that a large swarm of cockroaches will rush out of his neighbour’s home at around 10 pm every night.

He and another neighbour in the area will try their best to kill as many cockroaches as possible once they see the cockroaches.
