If you’ve been to Sentosa and are as poor as me, you’d have eaten at Seah Im Food Centre.

The hawker centre that’s located next to HarbourFront Centre, it’s the place to fill up your stomach before heading to Sentosa so that you won’t need to spend any money on the overpriced food in the tourists’ spot.

But you can’t do that soon.

Seah Im Food Centre to Close for 6 Months & 20% of Hawkers Expected Not to Return

Seah Im Food Centre was built in 1984—way before Vivocity was built.

The popular hawker centre isn’t just popular with Sentosa visitors: it’s also the to-go place for people living in Telok Blangah and nearby workers.

However, these people would now have to find affordable food elsewhere.

According to AsiaOne and DanielFoodDiary, the hawker centre is set to close for six months from September 2022 for renovations.

It’s expected to be reopened in 2023.

A member of the committee overseeing the food centre under the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry, who’s also a stall owner, said that about 80% of the stall owners will be back, and the remaining 20% will retire.

Its impending closure isn’t widely publicised as it’s not managed by NEA, so this isn’t announced in the NEA website.
