Life isn’t a smooth-sailing ride.

Not everything can go your way. One moment everything could be fine and the next everything could come crashing down.

There are those who choose to run from adversity, leaving everything they love behind.

However, there are those who also choose to face it despite its difficulty.

Because sometimes heroes don’t wear capes; they could just be your local grandmother you see every day.

The Sole Caretaker

This whole case might just tug at your heartstrings.

Lianhe WanBao reported that 10 years ago, Ah Ma Xie’s son was involved in a fatal car accident.

The accident not only injured him physically but left the man mentally impaired and on the verge of death.

That wasn’t even the final punch to the gut.

Her daughter-in-law then decided to abandon the family, leaving behind three young sons.

Since then, Ah Ma has stepped up to the plate of being the sole breadwinner.

Having to take care of the children, she worked 2 cleaning shifts, with the first shift ending at 4 pm.

She would then cook dinner and take a nap before rushing off for a night shift later on in the same day.

And yep, Ah Ma has been doing this since her son’s accident. That takes an insane amount of mental fortitude and I respect that.

Sadly, reality hits fast as it was still not enough to provide for her grandkids. Ah Ma also had to resort to loaning money from banks.

Strength Of The Community

With such a touching story, people are bound to take notice.

It was reported that two kind souls helped to clear up her bank loans of up to S$11,000.

In fact, the bank even helped out by lowering the amount she had to pay from the above to S$8,800.

A total of 5,000 people had helped to contribute and raise funds to help with the bank loans.

The wholesomeness doesn’t stop there.

Another anonymous person offered to donate S$500 per month so she could quit her night shift job.

In fact most of these people just really wanted her to rest and honestly, I think anyone would.

As of now, her grandsons who are studying in ITE and Polytechnics have also had their school fees settled. The Singapore Children’s Society is also providing $300 for each child’s expenses.

I suddenly feel water in my eyes?

Sometimes, even donating a dollar could help somebody in need. Who knows what that dollar might do for somebody in the long run.
